Learning Origami with Origami-Est at Southwood Stores

Paper. As a stationary addict, it’s one of my favourite things. Learning a new craft. Also one of my favourite things, as you’ll know if you’ve been following my blog or Instagram for a while. So combine the two in an origami workshop and you have Becky-Heaven.

A few weeks ago, I went along to Southwood Stores, near Milton Keynes, to learn origami with the lovely Esther from Origami-Est. It was a birthday treat to myself, and my sister Debbie, and one of my best friends (also called Becky) came too. There were two lovely ladies on our table, and another five origami fans on the other table.

Here I am getting my fold on. I’d just started and was really concentrating!

Ideas for Thea’s New IKEA Kura Bed

We have just got Thea a new (second hand) IKEA Kura bed. So now I am feverishly pinning  ‘IKEA Kura Bed Hack’ images. Sorry if you are sick of seeing them on my Pinterest feed! It’s just so flexible and there are loads of things we could do with it, how do we decide?

If you’re not familiar with the delights of the IKEA Kura bed, let me enlighten you. It can be used like a low-ish four poster bed, as we have it. Or you can upturn it, and made into a low mid-sleeper bed. In a few years we’ll flip it over so Thea can have a little den beneath it. She’s too young for that yet – she’s already rolled out, luckily it’s nice and low! That’s not the only danger though, as you’ll find out when you keep reading!

Will the stickers survive if I move them up?

My Favourite 5 for September: Kids’ Clothes, Flower Arranging & Tableware

We are pretty much back to ‘normal’ after the summer (whatever that may be) with Ava loving her new class at school, and Thea starting preschool.

PiCCALILLY ORGANIC KIDS CLOTHES

Ava and Thea have been chosen to be Brand Representatives for the gorgeous kids clothing brand Piccalilly. We are so excited, and I’ll be reviewing some of their organic kids clothes soon. I’m so impressed with them, I put an order in for some gifts. My little nephew turned one last week so I got him these little denim dungarees. Aren’t they cute? The clothes come up quite big, so I got age 6-12 months. There’s room for him to grow, especially as they are adjustable with the two sets of buttons.

And how adorable is this little baby grow? It’s a present for a friend who’s due any day. They don’t know if they’re having a boy or a girl so I think this is a perfect unisex outfit.

How To Make Homemade Natural Laundry Detergent

Have you discovered Dr Bronner’s Castile Soap? It is pretty amazing stuff. I’ve been using it in homemade natural laundry detergent, amongst other things.Use Dr Bronner's Organic Castille Soap, Soda Crystals, Bicarbonate of Soda and Essential Oil to make Homemade Natural Laundry Detergent that's effective and better for the environment.

Over the past six months or so, inspired by the LiveLAGOM sustainability project I’ve been working on with IKEA and Hubbub, I’ve been trying to reduce the amount of chemicals we use. Dr Bronner’s Organic Citrus Castile Liquid Soap is a key ingredient. You can buy it through this Amazon affiliate link, or just search online. It really is brilliant, with 101 uses, apparently! Continue reading
