Pottery Painting at Kilning Me Softly

A Pottery Painting Party at Kilning Me Softly, Milton Keynes

Thea had her 4th birthday a few weeks ago. As we did a big party for Ava on her fourth birthday, we wanted to do something special for her too. Ryan had the idea of pottery painting at Kilning Me Softly, on Newport Pagnell High Street. I wasn’t sure if she would be a bit young but the lady said it would be fine. So we booked!

When you book a party, you have the place to yourself, on Sundays when they are not normally open. The shop is so pretty, I didn’t even need to decorate it. All we had to do was turn up an hour before our booking, with our party food, cake and party bags.

My Favourite 5 for December: Christmas Family Fun

We have had the most marvellous December, with Ava’s birthday and party, (I can’t believe I am now the proud owner of a six year old!) Christmas, and New Year. What a busy month!

THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS

We’ve had such fun with Christmassy activities at school and home, and I have absolutely loved having the girls off school and preschool for over two weeks. They are thick as thieves, and were plotting mischief in this picture. Ava and Thea

I don’t know about you, but I’m not looking forward to getting back into the daily school run routine. Continue reading

Christmas Crafting Fun at Make Wrap Mingle

Christmas. Paper. Crafting. Fizz. Doughnuts. Meringues. Could there be a better combination?

Thanks to the gorgeous ladies behind Make Wrap Mingle, I would say no, that is Heaven, right there!

Ava was dying to dig in!

I took Ava to this special Christmas event at Paper Mill London, (which is an amazing venue, by the way!) where some very talented makers showed us how to make all sorts of Christmas crafts, as well as how to wrap presents.

It wasn’t a children’s event, but I thought Ava would love it, so I took the chance and took her along. Luckily, I was right and she was as happy as a pig in muck, and didn’t want to leave. She was especially fond of this lovely vintage typewriter.Vintage typewriter

What is MAKE WRAP MINGLE?

Make, Wrap, Mingle is a crafting event featuring printed textile designer Zeena Shah, stationery exerts Papermash, and design and lifestyle blog Little Big Bell. There are quarterly events running in London so if you’re interested I would follow them to know when the next ones are going to be. I see Zeena has a printing workshop on 23rd January. I went to one of her mini workshops at the Handmade Fair last year and it was brilliant. Continue reading

What you'll need to make a simple Christmas wreath

How To Make A Simple Christmas Wreath

I’ve always wanted to learn how to make a Christmas wreath. But I’ve never found a workshop that I can afford, or get to, or that doesn’t clash with work or another Christmas activity. So this year I am taking matters into my own hands, and making a simple Christmas wreath myself!
My simple Christmas wreath

I am certainly no expert, and I’m not sure if my wreath will last until the 6th of January. But I have been learning how to arrange flowers, and that has given me the confidence to just have a go! Continue reading

Origami lights

Learning Origami with Origami-Est at Southwood Stores

Paper. As a stationary addict, it’s one of my favourite things. Learning a new craft. Also one of my favourite things, as you’ll know if you’ve been following my blog or Instagram for a while. So combine the two in an origami workshop and you have Becky-Heaven.

A few weeks ago, I went along to Southwood Stores, near Milton Keynes, to learn origami with the lovely Esther from Origami-Est. It was a birthday treat to myself, and my sister Debbie, and one of my best friends (also called Becky) came too. There were two lovely ladies on our table, and another five origami fans on the other table.

Here I am getting my fold on. I’d just started and was really concentrating!
