FFS: A Much Prettier Way To Shave! Plus 25% Off

You may have read one of my recent blog posts, about my foray into gym life. I’m trying to improve my wellbeing and actually doing some exercise. It’s going quite well so far, and I’m signed up to several exercise classes and have even tried a running machine. But because I want to use the pool, I’m having to shave my legs much more often!

Luckily I have discovered Friction Free Shaving, as it’s a much prettier way to shave*, as well as being smoother. A few months ago I wrote about a new razor I’d been trying, called the Samantha by Friction Free Shaving (or FFS for short). I was impressed with this five blade shave system. You get a month’s worth of blades delivered, which clip into the metal handle. I’ve been using it ever since.

Now the guys at FFS have gone one better, and made an even prettier way to shave.

Check out this rose gold beauty! It feels as good as it looks, too. The handle is metal with a slightly padded base, and handles like a dream. FFS Rose Razor Review - A much prettier way to shave

Introducing The New Rose Razor; A Prettier Way To Shave

The Rose Gold handle has:

  • Six diamond-coated stainless steel blades per cartridge
  • 1 styling bikini blade built into the back of the cartridge
  • Full 90-degree pivot head to contour the body’s curves
  • Weighted handle for optimal control and comfort
  • Chrome plating to prevent rust
  • Vitamin E strips

You get the handle plus four blades in your first delivery, and from the second month, you get four blades for £9 a month. FFS Is A Much Prettier Way To ShaveYou can also subscribe for the same amount every two months, if you find you’re not using them as much. You can also pause or cancel at any time.

There’s also the option add their Shave Cream, which is £6. It contains Manuka honey, Shea butter and coconut oil, and I really rate it. Although it’s not totally natural, which I would much prefer, it is cruelty-free and contains a lot of natural ingredients.

Rose Compared to Samantha

If you already have the Samantha razor, I thought you might like to see how it compares to the new Rose razor.

As you can see, the Rose is smaller, with a smaller shave head. I think it’s better for underarms and bikini lines. In terms of the closeness of shave, I haven’t noticed any difference between the two, but I am impressed with both. I find I do get a bit of razor burn/ingrown hairs on my bikini line but I think that’s just my skin! I think the only way I’ll overcome it is with a laser.

Unfortunately, the razor heads are not interchangeable between Samantha and Rose. So if you already have the Samantha razor, like me, at some point you’ll need to upgrade to the new Rose. Whilst I do prefer the new handle, it does leave me with a dilemma as I now have an old handle that will need to be thrown away. I need to look into recycling it.

Razor Blade Subscriptions Are a Prettier Way To Shave, and Save

You can see my thoughts on this razor blade subscription on my review of the Samantha razor. In a nutshell I think it’s great value compared to my former Gilette Venus razor blades, plus it has the convenience of monthly delivery. I prefer to support a small British company, rather than a global corporation. You can even get your handle engraved, how cute is that?

If £9 a month sounds a bit steep, they do have a lower-spec razor called Frankie. It’s just £5 a month, so £1.25 a blade, with free delivery.

Can you recycle the blades? Feels a bit wasteful throwing away diamond coated blades every week! The product looks lovely though and supporting a UK business definitely a positive. I don’t think Gillette are very ethical. Can’t help giggling at FFS though!! x

I need to look into recycling the blades – hopefully Google will give the answer! Yes I am not a fan of Gillette at all. xx

What do you think? I'd love to hear from you, please leave me a comment!
