My Thoughts on the June Love Lula Beauty Box

Bellapierre Kiss Proof Lip Creme, £20

I’ll start with the not so good. I was excited to try the Bellapierre Kiss Proof Lip Creme, as I’d never tried this brand before, and I do love lip products. Sadly, the colour (Antique Pink) looks awful on me. It looks like quite a nice shade in the tube. But when it’s actually on my lips it is really dark, with a purplish tone and I feel like it ages me.

On the plus side, it smells lovely and fruity and lasted all day. I was a bit sad about how well it lasted, due to the shade not suiting me – I even had to use eye make-up remover to get it off! It looks glossy when you apply it, then it goes sticky as it dries, and then gives a matte look. I found it quite sticky even after it had been on a few hours, however the staying power is amazing, especially for a natural product.

My skin is very fair, so perhaps Antique Pink would be better suited to a darker skin tone. It comes in three other shades, two of which look lighter and one that’s a brown tone.

Mini Balm Balm Hibiscus Face Mask (Full size £9.50) plus Muslin Face Cloth, £8.50 for 3

I have a few Balm Balm products and have always found them nice to use so I was keen to try this Hibiscus Face Mask. I received a tester, which is enough for one or two applications. It is a powder, with a mix of fine and larger grains, which you mix with a small amount of water to form a paste. Sadly, I put in way too much water, so it looked more like a watery smoothie! Oops.

It smells lovely and after I let the powder settle a bit, it went on well. You’re supposed to wait ten minutes, or for it to dry. I waited longer as I’d put way too much water in so it didn’t dry for a while!

As you can see, it goes a little bubbly as it dries. You use damp hands to massage it in, so it exfoliates really well. Then you rinse it off. It was a little tricky to remove, so I’d suggest using it before a bath or shower to make it easier and less messy to rinse away. I didn’t use the cloth provided to wash it away as I felt the mask itself was exfoliating enough. However I have used it to remove my cleanser and found it nice, though rougher than the ones I already have.

This mask left my skin wonderfully smooth and a bit glowy, so I would definitely use it again, with the correct ratio of water next time!

Madara Daily Defence Ultra Rich Balm, £15

I have always been impressed with Madara product, including their Micellar Water, which is my favourite, and their Deodorant, which actually works, despite being natural! And this multi-purpose balm does not disappoint*. It smells lovely and is so rich and creamy. I had a patch of flaky skin on my face, and popped a smidge of this on overnight and the flakes were totally gone by morning. It would also be great for dry cracked hands in winter. I used it after the Balm Balm mask and my skin was ultra soft the next morning.

Mini John Masters Organics Lavender, Rose Geranium and Ylang Ylang Soap, £3

To me, a soap is a soap! This one smells absolutely gorgeous though so it is a lovely one to use.

So for me the winners of this Love Lula Beauty Box are the face mask and the ultra rich balm.

Of course all of these products are natural, so you can be sure they don’t contain any nasty chemicals like conventional skincare and make-up. I’m excited to discover some new favourites. Do you have a beauty subscription box? What’s your favourite beauty discovery?

Great review and lovely to discover your blog! I like the Bellapierre Lip Cremes (that staying power is amazing!) and I’ve since went on and bought the coral one (pretty orangey but nice). I loved the Madara balm also.
