My Favourite Five for May: Stationery, Footwear & Spiderman

Tomorrow is the last day of school before half term and boy are we ready for a break! We have had such a busy month, and last Friday Ava got a bit upset about going to school – I think she’s just really exhausted. I told her it was the weekend tomorrow and asked what she wanted to do. She said “Can we go to the Co-Op and choose a magazine.” What an unexpected request – but nice and easy to achieve!

Ava’s Certificates

Ava’s been working really hard at school and got not one, but two certificates, and had to stand up in assembly to collect them! She was so nonchalant about it, and we are incredibly proud of her creativity. Ava's Certificates

Marilyn Ombre Pencils

You may have noticed I am a slight stationery freak. So you can imagine how excited I was to receive these lovely ombre pencils from Team Hen* – each is embossed with a quote from Marilyn Monroe.

Kikki.k Quote Cards

Sticking with the stationery theme, and I was overjoyed to discover new shop Kikki.K, when I was in London a few weeks ago. Good grief, it was as if someone had gone into my brain and made all the things I would ever want. Aside from lots of lovely cards, pens and homeware, these pretty quote cards caught my eye. I love the quotes and gold foiling, and have the ‘Start Somewhere’ one in the wooden holder at the moment, as I am working on a big, slightly daunting project. It’s helping inspire me!

Wellies and Sandals

It’s spring, so we need sandals. And wellies. Ava’s old ones started leaking so I got her these adorable Little Bird ones from

Mothercare.co.uk. I really WISH they came in adult sizes! They look pretty cool with her new coat, and will keep her nice and dry when we go camping!

I’ve also bought both girls John Lewis footbed sandals. We had them last year (though they were navy polkadots, which I did prefer) and they lasted the whole summer. I love footbed sandals as they seem to be much more supportive and better for their feet than the cheaper ones.John Lewis Navy Girl's Sandals

Thea as Spiderman

We spent a lovely afternoon at a friend’s house last week, and her two boys are both Spiderman fanatics. Thea wanted to wear one of their outfits and I managed to capture this shot of her, doing her Spidey moves. She was so happy. I think she totally rocks it.Thea as Spiderman

*I was sent these pencils to review, and the opinions are my own, as always.

Ah thanks Maria, that’s lovely of you to say so. The sandals aren’t looking quite so nice, a few weeks down the tracks after little feet scooting in them, he he. Still sweet though xx

I adore those wellies! And I love stationery but never buy it because I don’t know what to do with it! Maybe having a blog can be my excuse now 🙂

Yes, it is a totally valid reason for buying stationery. You need to write a lot of lists and brainstorm important things! Thanks for stopping by Emillie xx

The humble pencil is my favourite piece of stationary to write with. I think it’s the simplicity of it, add maz quotes and it truly is #lovelythings (pencil has to be really sharp!)

I agree, your daughter totally rocks in the spiderman costume. I remember mine wearing his until it was so short in the leg that he looked like a cross between the hulk and spiderman! I’m loving the john lewis sandals too, I’ll have to check them out for boys.
