My Favourite Family, Things I Love

I really miss going to the cinema

Before we had the girls, I went to the cinema quite a lot. I love films, and did a minor in Film Studies at university. But now we have the kids, we very very rarely go, I can’t even remember the last time!

It’s not so much that we can’t get a baby sitter, as our family and friends have offered, and I even have a pair of free tickets waiting to be used! It’s the fact that by the time we have got the girls to bed (and more importantly, asleep!) it’s past eight o’clock, so that means we can’t really see a film until about nine, which means it’ll be past midnight when I we get home. And I can’t cope! I need every minute of sleep I can get.

This (very flattering) picture of me and my sister Debbie popped up on my Facebook timeline this week, and reminded me of how much I love the cinema. Just look at our smiling little faces! We were about to see the Dr Who special in 3D a few years back, and were so excited.

Didn’t we look attractive in our 3D specs?

Ryan is going to see Star Wars when it comes out, so it’s his turn to geek out but maybe one day we’ll be able to go together again! I might make that a resolution next year.

Are you missing anything from your ‘pre-kids’ life? I obviously wouldn’t swap it for anything, but sometimes it would be nice to get a bit of that old life back.

Thanks Helen, it’s a shame isn’t it, it’s never the same on TV (even after waiting for ages for it to come out on Bluray!) xx

Oh Cinema, I miss it too… since I moved over here in the UK 7 yrs ago, I have not watched cinema ever since. I can totally relate about the sleep thing as I’m the same, I’m so greedy with sleep, I value my 8-10hrs sleep more than anything else, lol #ThrowbackThursday

Wow seven years, that beats me hands down, I feel a big better now! Ten hours sleep would be like winning the lottery to me ☺️ xx
