Ava and Thea’s May: Pirates, Flash and a Haircut

Ryan has spent a week abroad this month, for work. All I can say is hats off to single parents! The girls were pretty good, luckily, but they did really miss daddy.

Gifts for Daddy

Thea picked him some flowers, to welcome him home.

Then we had to arrange them.

Ava wrote him the cutest postcard:

Party Fun

The girls had two parties this month: a sledging party and a pirate party. They really got into the costumes.

Pirate girls
Thea went to the Xscape Snow Dome for sledging. She was super excited in the run up, and throughout the whole party. She couldn’t wait to get stuck in and had a whale of a time rolling about in the snow. I think she managed to sledge down five times, and I was so proud of her trecking up this big hill, when the snow was up to her little knees! Here she is half way down the slope in yellow wellies *sorry about the awful photo!Thea sledging

Ava’s Flash

I took the girls shopping and Ava snuck a bottle of Flash into the trolley. For about six months, she’s been obsessed with the Flash advert, and keeps saying she thinks I should buy it, and this was her chance!

I had to disappoint her, however, as I prefer to use products with fewer chemicals.

Learning Fun

Ava had her half term celebration of learning and was very proud of the seeds she’s grown. She showed me her work book and she’d drawn this amazing picture of a flower.

She’s also been exploring her creativity on her bedroom wall…

She must have been cutting and sticking for ages before I woke up! I love how creative she is. This is a fairy garden she made. I hope the snail shells are uninhabited! Ava's fairy gardenThea is also making me proud with her ‘reading’ – she’ll sit for ages looking at her books, and can’t wait to start school in September so she can learn to read!

Thea’s New Haircut

You might have also noticed her new short hair! She was very insistent that she got it cut into a bob, as getting the tangles out in the bath was getting really traumatic for all of us. So I took her to the salon, and doesn’t she look cute? I was worried about leaving it any longer as she kept saying “I’m going to get short hair” and making sniping motions with her fingers, right next to her head. I wouldn’t put it past her to take matters into her own hands!

I think some people have been a bit shocked that we got it cut, as it was so lovely and long. But Thea knows her own mind and I like to let the girls make their own decisions (within reason!) when I can. She absolutely loves it, and it makes bath time so much calmer – it’s a definite winner for us all!

So that was May – can you believe we’re nearly half way though the year? I hope you have had some great times this month too!
