Ava and Thea’s June: National Trust, Sunshine and Dancing
We have had such a lovely June. Our Half Term holiday flew by and now we are over half way though the final half term! I struggled a bit with the girls over the Easter Holidays. But we had such a great half term, I’m really looking forward to the long summer holidays.
Colourscape at Waddesdon Manor
During Half Term, I took the girls to Colourscape at Waddesdon Manor, near Aylesbury, with some friends. We had a great time at the adventure playground and had a picnic. Then we walked up to the manor house to find the Colourscape display. It was a bit like going inside a giant, multi-coloured bouncy castle, quite bizarre but fun! It made me feel a little drunk. We queued for about an hour, but it was worth it as the kids absolutely loved it!
Wimple Home Farm
I also took the girls to the National Trust’s Wimpole Estate, near Cambridge. We have been lots of times before and it’s always fun. We just went to the Farm as the girls aren’t overly interested in stately homes. They had fun climbing trees, seeing the animals and ‘milking’ the fake cows. We also had a quick peek in the beautiful walled garden and smelled their beautiful peonies, plus snuck in an ice cream, yum!
Both girls had Sports Days at school/preschool. Thea’s was nursery rhyme themed, so here she is doing the jumping-over-the-candlestick race. Ava’s was with the whole school so she did all sorts of races like the egg and spoon and dribbling a football. They both really enjoyed it.
Hot Weather Fun
We discovered our old paddling pool had been nibbled by mice, so Ryan had to go and get a new one when the crazy hot weather kicked in. It was worth it to see the girls splashing about it in.
They have loved gathering strawberries from the garden too.
Wearing Matching Clothes
I love dressing the girls in matching outfits. These matching jumpsuits are their favourites – I got them in the Boots sale at the end of last year and they still just about fit! They loved this huge sweet wall.
We got Ava some headphones for my old iPod and Thea loves to borrow them. Here she is doing a silent disco to Taylor Swift. I could watch this all day!
I hope you’ve had a great month too!

Greys Court is also in South Bucks. It’s a lovely place for a walk, as is Cliveden Gardens, which has the most amazing storybook-themed playground.
We had a great time at Upton House in Warwickshire a few years back.
