My home office hasย a copper and white theme. I got the lovely copper lampshade and table lamp ages ago and I need aย few more touches of copper to bring it together.ย So I created these cute copper polkadot tea light holders, using IKEA tumblers, sticky dots, and spray paint.
What You’ll Need to Makeย Copper Polkadot Tea Light Holders
Some small glasses. I used a box of six small IKEA tumblers for just ยฃ1.30. I have two left over for a different colour.
Sticky dots. The kind you use to wrap parcels if you’re too posh to use tape, which were ยฃ1 from our local hardware shop.
Spray paint. I used Rust-oleum spray paint in Copper, ยฃ9.49 from Amazon.
Tea lights. You can use real ones, but I went for battery operated ones for safety’s sake, as I have two curious little girls!
How to Make Cute Polkadot Tea Light Holders
STEP 1: Wash the glasses in the dishwasher, to make sure they didn’t have any grease on them.
STEP 2: Stick some sticky dots onto two of the glasses, in a random pattern. Press them down well, using a cloth or some paper towel, so that you get a crisp line, and don’t get fingerprints on the glass or dots, as this would stop the spray paint from sticking.
STEP 3: Turn them upside down on an old baking tray (or something similar) outside, and spray them lightly with the spray paint, from all directions.
It’s important to put them upside down, or you will get paint on the inside, and therefore not get the polkadot effect. Let them dry for a few hours (longer, if possible).
STEP 4: Carefully peel off the sticky dots, and stick them on two of the other glasses, in a random pattern.
Just pop your tea lights in, and you’re ready to glow! They make great gifts, but are for decoration only. I doubt they would survive the dishwasher, and definitely should not be used as glasses!
Of course you could just use jam jars, and they also make great pen pots.

I have such a love of all things copper at the moment. My friends had new radiators installed and all I could do was coo over the copper piping.
