How To Refresh Your Living Room for Summer with Cox & Cox

Summer is just round the corner, and that always makes me want to refresh our home. My thoughts have turned to our living room, as it was the first room we worked on when we moved in three years ago. When we bought our house, we were living with my parents, as it needed so much work doing before we could move in. I think seeing that big empty space made are forget that we had two (then teeny) children. I bought not one, but two, mainly white rugs. What. Was. I. Thinking?

Fast forward three years, and both rugs are looking decidedly sad. They have gone through muddy footprints, baby vom, chocolate, Baby Bel wax, tea, luminous marker pen… the list goes on. From a distance, it looks OK, but it really doesn’t bear close scrutiny!

This rug looks OK… from a distance but notice the faded patch in the centre? Thea’s luminous felt tip pens and the resulting scrubbing were the culprit!

I’m also thinking of adding a bit more colour to the lounge. As much as I love the grey, I do think we could afford to add a splash colour to the space. Cox and Cox have the most beautiful rugs, that are perfect for a summer room refresh, they have a few (OK six!) that could work really well.

Meet My Favourite Cox and Cox Rugs

Starting off with pink (naturally!) these three are just gorgeous aren’t they? I think the striped ones would probably be a bit safer with kids than the plain Altum.

Because the two striped ones have a bit of blue in them too, it could mean we could take off the grey throw from the Ercol sofas as it would pull the colours together. We still need to get a new sofa to replace the brown one though!

There are two more neutral rugs that caught my eye, probably because they bear more of a resemblance to the one we already have. But Ryan would not be pleased if we got another pale one!

And Finally… The Wild Card Rug

Cox and Cox Dana Rug Mustard

How stunning is this mustard yellow Dana rug? It would instantly refresh the room for summer, wouldn’t it! I haven’t used yellow in our house at all, I think I have been scarred for life after painting the lounge in my student house sunshine yellow (again, what was I thinking?) But in moderation, I think it looks great.

So next would be matching accessories to tie in with the new rug…

I think these would look lovely with the grey and neutral shades in the room, what do you think? Please leave me a comment below and let me know!

    1. Ah thanks Laura, I do love the old one but Thea tipped a pottery plant over it this morning so I’m not sure if it will survive much more abuse! xx
