I’ve been a green beauty convert for many years now and I love discovering new brands with great ethics, who try to minimise their effects on the planet. But I also have my tried and trusted green beauty brands, and Green People is one of them. They were green beauty pioneers and have so many amazing products.
Their latest launch is the Nordic Roots Skincare Collection. Will it live up to the other Green People products I’ve reviewed and loved in the past? Read my Green People Nordic Roots review to find out.
Green People’s Ethical and Eco Credentials
One of the many reasons I love Green People is that they avoid so many nasty ingredients: parabens, alcohol, harsh foaming agents, SLS/SLES, gluten, petrochemicals, mineral oils, silicones, lanolin, phthalates, triclosan, propylene glycol, irritating emulsifiers, synthetic fragrance, ethoxylated ingredients, formaldehyde and formaldehyde-donors, methylisothiazolinone, EDTA, PABA-sunscreen, octyl methoxycinnamate, camphor-derived UV filters, colourants, urea, DEA, TEA or PEGs. Quite the list!
Green People were one of the first companies to have cosmetic products certified organic by the Soil Association and then by Organic Food Federation and EcoCert. They have also been named an Ethical Company Organisation and are certified as a cruelty-free brand by PETA. And 10% of their net profit is donated to charity.
About the Nordic Roots Collection from Green People
The Nordic Root Collection is made up of a Micellar Foam, Facial Oil, Serum and Moisturiser. I have reviewed all but the Oil, as I have about 7 facial oils to get through and didn’t want to add to my pile! They are all Vegan, scent-free, made with organic ingredients and suitable for sensitive skin. The boxes are recyclable and made with 25% grass!

Green People say:
This collection is inspired by the Scandinavian love of purity, simplicity and functionality. It delivers powerful results with a simple and synergistic blend of clean, honest ingredients.
Green People

These powerful plant actives range from Atlantic Seaweed to Hop Flowers and Apple Complex, all sustainably sources from across Scandinavia. Green People say they are all natural, suitable for sensitive skin, and free from ethyl alcohol, parabens and SLS. So let’s get this Nordic Roots review underway.
Nordic Roots Hyaluronic Acid Booster Serum
This scent-free serum comes in a glass dropper bottle and is velvety smooth. Key ingredients include naturally moisturising hyaluronic acid to help plump the skin and reduce the look of fine lines, and hop flowers to target hyperpigmentation and age spots to enhance skin tone. 100% of the ingredients are of natural origin and 22.8% of the total ingredients are from organic farming.
This serum is ideal to use at night, before your night cream, as it gives a boost to skin overnight. As it’s water-based, not oil-based, it feels refreshing on the skin, without feeling at all heavy or greasy. So much so you can even use it beneath your day cream. And it sinks in instantly. This is the perfect choice for sensitive, dry skin.
Nordic Roots Apple Complex Moisturiser
This deeply hydrating, unscented face cream can be used morning and evening, and is the perfect partner to the Hyaluronic Acid Booster. It comes in an airlock pump dispenser so it keeps fresh without the need for artificial preservatives. Key ingredients include apple cellular water to boost skin elasticity and give a natural glow, and sugar beets and oat kernel extracts. 21.8% of the total ingredients are from organic farming.
This rich, skin calming face cream is surprisingly light in texture considering how hydrating it is. A little goes a long way, and it sinks in well after a few moments of slight stickiness. I find now the season has changed it’s good to use in the morning beneath make-up, as well as at night.
Nordic Roots Cranberry Micellar Foam
This natural cleansing foam comes in a pump bottle, and foams up beautifully. Key ingredients include antioxidant-rich cranberry extracts, whilst apple cellular water to leave skin refreshed and hydrated. 99.7% of the ingredients are natural origin and 20.8% of the total ingredients are from organic farming.
Green People say it gently dissolves dirt and most make-up but I didn’t find it very effective. You’re supposed to use it with a cloth but I suspect the cloth is doing most of the heavy lifting to be honest. It is better used in the morning to refresh skin, than for a thorough cleanse, or as a second cleanse when oil or balm cleansing – the Green People Age Defy+ Wonder Balm is ideal for this and you can see my review here.

I hope you’ve found my Nordic Roots review helpful: all in all this is a great collection, but if you’re a make-up wearer you’d need an additional cleanser.
