May Love Lula Beauty Box Review
Do you subscribe to a monthly beauty box? I only recently discovered the delights of getting a parcel of surprise goodies through the post, when I received my first Love Lula Beauty Box. Well, each month has seen an exciting delivery, but the May box* has been my favourite so far.
It contains John Masters Lavender & Rosemary Shampoo Mini, John Masters Citrus & Neroli Detangler Mini, Ogario London Styling Mist, PHB Ethical Beauty Gentle Moisturiser and Laidbare DIY Two in One Cleanser & Toner. Together they are worth £45, but a subscription is £13.95 a month, so I think it’s great value. You also get a special discount code for 20% off these brands until the end of the month.
Being from natural beauty experts Love Lula, all of these beauty products are natural, with no nasty chemicals. The products are generally more expensive than their equivalent regular high street products. For me, it’s worth the extra to know that I’m not only making a more ethical, eco friendly choice, but also not adding unnecessary chemicals to my skin.
May Love Lula Beauty Box Facial Care
Starting with the facial care, which includes a facial wash and a moisturiser.
The Laidbare Two in One Cleanser and Toner is £6.99 for 125ml, which is great price for a natural beauty product, and it works so well. I would say it’s more appropriate for oiler skin types as I think it may slightly dry the skin out. I find as long as I put moisturiser on soon after the shower, it’s great. It contains liquorice, aloe vera, apple secrets extract and brazil nut extract, and smells of fruit pastels.
I am already a superfan of PHB Ethical Beauty, but I’d not tried their Gentle Moisturiser with Shea Butter & Apricot, which is £16.95 for 50ml. This cream is lovely and nourishing, without being heavy. It smells like Beconase hay fever nasal spray, but it’s quite a nice smell anyway. It’s a hypoallergenic formula so it won’t irritate sensitive skin. I’ve been using it overnight for the past few nights and it’s lovely. May Love Lula Beauty Box Hair Care
On to the haircare that came in my May Love Lula Beauty Box. I was very excited to see trial sized John Masters shampoo and conditioner, plus a full size styling product from Ogario London.
I’ve never used John Masters before and the products get rave reviews. Both the Lavender & Rosemary Shampoo, which is £17 for 237ml, and the Citrus & Neroli Detangler, which is £17 for 236ml smell gorgeous, as they are packed full of essential oils.
The first time I tried the shampoo, I pretty much hated it, unfortunately. It doesn’t lather and was just really hard work. I used my trusty Giovanni Shampoo afterwards as my hair felt awful. But I thought I’d better try again. This time I did both washes with the John Masters shampoo and the second wash lathered up much better thankfully. The detangler is excellent and you can use it as a leave in treatment or as a conditioner. My hair is super shiny after using them both, but to be honest it’s too expensive for me, especially as the shampoo is rather difficult to work with.
The Ogario London Styling Mist is £16 for 60ml, so again quite pricey. As you only need a few spritzes, I think it will last a long time. This is another new brand for me and one that has impressed me. The packaging is lovely and it works well.
The Benefits of the Love Lula Beauty Box
I love the Love Lula Beauty Box because it gave me some products from tried and trusted natural brands, and the chance to try some new brands I probably wouldn’t have tried otherwise. I’m also really pleased I didn’t buy the full size shampoo, as I may have done otherwise, so it’s saved me money there instantly!
