Making a Splash at David Lloyd Milton Keynes

It’s been a while since I wrote about how we’re getting on at David Lloyd Clubs in Milton Keynes. My last post told you about my plans to wear a bikini for the first time in eight years. Well, thanks to the improvement in body confidence I feel because I’m exercising regularly, I wore a bikini and it was totally fine!

Now, I’ll be wearing that bikini a whole lot more, thanks to the indoor swimming pool refurbishment at David Lloyd. This morning, I went over at 6.45am to get some pictures of the pool, before it opened to the members. And I’m impressed!

The Newly Refurbished Indoor Swimming Pool is Open

If you’re not a member at David Lloyd Clubs Milton Keynes, but you live in the area, you’ll know that the club’s justifiably famous for its swimming pools. The pool was installed when the club was built 21 years ago, so it was beginning to show its age. Now, thanks to a half a million pound refurbishment, it’s been modernised and refreshed, and totally looks the part.

So here is a peek at the slick and modern new indoor swimming pool at David LLoyd Clubs, Milton Keynes. I took this photo from the exercise studio upstairs, so you can see how big and light the pool is.

The pool was emptied, steam cleaned, and regrouted. The pool-side area has a new floor and walls, benches, and lighting. In fact, the wall clock is the only thing that hasn’t been replaced or rejuvenated. Not bad for only seven weeks!

It’s taken five days to refill the pool with water, and it’s taking a while to warm up! It’s currently around 26.5 degrees and over the next day or two it will raise to around 30 degrees.

What About the Rest of the Pool Area?

Whilst the work was going on improving the indoor swimming pool, the team took the opportunity to improve the whole pool area. This includes a deep clean of the rest of the pool area, and replacement of any parts that needed improving. If you haven’t been to David Lloyd Clubs Milton Keynes before, here is what you’re missing out on. The hot tub is my favourite.

The showers have also been replaced, meaning getting changed after a swim is much nicer.

The Outdoor Swimming Pool is Still Gorgeous

I can’t write about swimming at David Lloyd Milton Keynes without showing you their fabulous outdoor swimming pool. It’s always very popular in the summer, and you can see why!

This is where swimming, aqua aerobics and aqua Zumba have been taking place whilst the pool refurbishment has been going on. Well done to the instructors who’ve stood outside during this unseasonably rainy May and June!

Ryan and the girls are super keen to get into the new pool. Despite me not being the best swimmer, I’m also looking forward to it. I’ll be taking the girls over this weekend at some point.
