The end of the school year is looming, and I’m trying to decide what gifts to get Ava’s amazing teacher and other school staff. Ava adores her teacher, so I want to get her something really special, to show her how much we appreciate her hard work.
Last year, I let Ava run riot with some plain plates and pens, and she did a great job decorating them for her teachers at pre-school. I know they really appreciated the effort she had gone to.
One of my friends, who’s a primary school teacher, told me the best gifts she’s received:
A handmade and handwritten card from the child is always lovely. I’m always partial to wine, or book tokens. The most meaningful thing is when parents write a card with a message of thanks. I’ve kept all of those!
So, thanks to my Proper Post Subscription, I have some lovely cards that I will write myself. I’m always finding little cards and notes from Ava, so I’m sure she will love making one for her wonderful teacher.
I want to get her a gift as well, and here are some goodies I think any teacher would be delighted to receive.
GIFTS FOR THE STATIONERY FAN
In my experience, most teachers love stationery, so a gorgeous desk tidy like this one from Southwood Stores for £20 would useful as well as pretty, and comes in red and grey too.
Isn’t this monochrome pencil case for £8.50 from Nutmeg Home & Gifts on Not On The High Street gorgeous? I just love the message!
You could add some cute pencils for £1.50 each.
.
Or why not team it with a pretty A5 Notebook from A Room In My House? They’re £4 each.

PERSONALISED GIFTS
If they are a planner (and all teachers have to be!) they might like this cute personalised diary cover from katiekid on Etsy for £18.
AND FINALLY, AN APPLE FOR THE TEACHER
I think this little felt creation from Miss-Shelly Designs is adorable, and it’s a really sweet way to show how much you appreciate your teacher. This hand made apple is £12, and you can personalise it with your child’s name and their teacher’s name.
If time is not on your side, how about getting a voucher for a coffee shop, or a pretty plant? Or what about flowers? I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t like them.
Have you got any ideas to add? I’d love to hear them!

It’s lush isn’t it, I am so tempted to get it for myself! Thanks for popping by xx
These are lovely ideas – love the wooden flower! My mum was a teacher & I have to admit that I just loved all the chocolates she got given at the end of the year – the day 30 boxes of chocolates came home was always a special day!
Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next Sunday
Ha ha yes that must have been like Christmas! I love visiting teacher friends after the end of term for the same reason – a cupboard full of treats, yum yum xx
Oh this is great timing! I’ve teemed up with the other parents in the class to buy a big present, but I think I’ll definitely get my daughter to make a card at least to show our huge thanks! I LOVE the stationery bits and pieces especially that pencil case with the lovely wording and those pencils with those messages are great too! #TwinklyTuesday x
Thank you Cheryl, I do think a home made element is the way forward as it’s so much more personal. Good idea about clubbing together! xx
This is a great list coming up to the end of the school year. I love the little apple is so cute!

Apologies – #TwinklyTuesday – baby brain again!
I love the pencil case! It’s so nice to thank their teachers at the end of the year. A wide and colourful choice of items. Can I teach your little one?! hahaha
#KCACOLS
It’s gorgeous isn’t it? Thank you for popping by xx
Aww so many thoughtful gifts here, I am sure a teacher would be happy to receive any of those! You have made me think that I should probably buy something for the staff at Leo’s play school! Thanks for the reminder. I love the desk tidy and that felt apple is so sweet.xx #KCACOLS
Thank you Wendy, I want the desk tidy myself! Hope you find something lovely for your team xx
Some lovely ideas here. It is difficult to be original but not too showy or over-generous, isn’t it? I always buy for the TA’s too, so that’s 5 gifts I’ve had to think of! #KCACOLS
Yes that is exactly the problem – it’s hard to strike the balance! I think we have five too but want to double check! xx
Teacher’s presents are actually quite hard aren’t they?! I have got them for my son’s pre-school teachers but I am now wondering I should for his swimming teacher. It’s a minefield! There are some great tips here though 🙂
I am so worried about missing someone too Laura, I think I might phone the office and double check! xx
I have had some lovely gifts from the pupils in my classes over the years. Like you mentioned the best ones are the hand written cards, either from the child (or more often with me, as the kids are very Autistic – the parents). Anything that really shows their appreciation. I had a packet of forget me not seeds with a beautiful message on from one child last year. It really does make a difference to feel appreciated with these gifts, so thanks for sharing a few ideas.
Amanda. #kcacols
Ah seeds are a lovely idea, I bet you had a few tears in your eyes when you received them! xx
I love all of these! We’re clubbing together to get our teacher one big present so hopefully we can get something really good! #KCACOLS
Ooh what a great idea to get something together, that helps take the pressure off too! xx

They are lovely aren’t they, and so unusual! Happy summer to you too! xx
I’m trying to think of teacher gifts at the moment. I always want to buy something special and then I leave it too late and end up in a panic.
