Hoping for a Good Night’s Sleep with Feather & Down
Sleep. Like most parents I know, I am obsessed with it (well, the lack of it, to be precise!) I don’t think I’ve had a good night’s sleep since before I was pregnant with Ava seven years ago. I’m not even exaggerating.
The girls are (generally) sleeping through the night, finally, but I’m still not sleeping well. So I need to take matters in to my own hands and finally get a good night’s sleep. Aside from planning a new bedroom, including a new mattress, I’m trying other ways to sleep better.
A Good Night’s Sleep with Feather & Down
I’m trialling a range of products by Feather & Down, which are all available at Boots. Their mantra is ‘Sleep Matters’ and their bath, body and home products are blended with lavender and chamomile essential oils.
Lovely packaging, right? I’ve been treated to their Melting Shower Cream,£6, Soothing Body Oil, £8, Pillow Spray, £7 and Sleep Balm, £7*, and they also have bath salts, bath cream, candles and gift sets.
The ideas is that using them together as a sort of ritual, will help clear your mind and calm you down for sleep. The products smell nice, but I was surprised they don’t smell more lavender-y.
Shower and Moisturise Sleep Regime
I would probably choose a bath product rather than a shower cream, as if I want to unwind, I think a bath is better than a shower. But this shower cream is really velvety and smells lovely, and leaves skin feeling soft. Following up a warm shower with a spritz of the matching body oil is a good way to unwind before bed. The oil does take a while to sink in, but my skin was super soft the next day.
Spritz and Balm Sleep Regime
I especially like the Feather & Down Pillow Spray and Sleep Balm. They both smell lovely and I have been using them both most nights.
These products are free from parabens, mineral oils and preservatives but they do contain a few ingredients I am not altogether comfortable with, as I don’t know what they are. For example Isopropyl Myristate, Isohexadecane, 2-Bromo-2-Nitro-propane-1, Trideceth-9. I realise that not everyone is trying to avoid chemicals, but as I am, I need to do a bit more research to see what these ingredients actually are.
Am I Getting a Good Night’s Sleep?
Not yet! I do think I am getting to sleep a bit quicker however, but of course these things are rather hard to measure. Although it hasn’t made a huge amount of difference, it is nice to have a little bedtime regime. I only do the sleep mist and balm every night as I tend to shower in the morning. I think the products are good value and they are pleasant to use as they are relaxing, and smell nice.
Do you have any tips for getting a good night’s sleep? I’d love to hear them, please leave me a comment!
