Have you ever tried a shampoo bar? In a bid to cut waste from my beauty regime, I’ve tried a few solid shampoos, but haven’t found one that works on my bleached hair yet. I’ve been sent a shampoo bar from My. Haircare to test out, along with their Treat Conditioner. So will this handmade luxury shampoo bar and conditioner give me the hair of my dreams? Rescue My. Hair Hydrate Shampoo Bar Review
The first thing I noticed about this shampoo bar is the scent. It’s very strong, and actually fragrances the whole bathroom! It’s not the loveliest smell ever – it’s a little ‘old lady’ floral, but not unpleasant. It scents the hair effectively, but without being overpowering.
This large shampoo bar comes in a cardboard carton, which you can use to store it in between washes, or for travel.
Rescue My. Hair Hydrate Shampoo Bar is cold pressed, hand made and soap-free. Ingredients include moisturising aloe vera, prickly pear and carob seed extract. It’s cruelty-free and vegan, and doesn’t contain any palm oil, SLS/SLES, sodium hydroxide, harsh detergents, silicones or parabens.
It’s also biodegradable, and producing a shampoo bar uses less water than bottled shampoo, and the packaging is plastic-free.
How To Use This Shampoo Bar
To use the Rescue My. Hair Hydrate Shampoo Bar, you just wet your hands and lather it up, and then add the later to your wet hair. It doesn’t lather as much as regular shampoo, but on a par with natural shampoo.
It leaves my hair feeling nice and clean, without the waxy residue that I have experienced with other shampoo bars. I do need to use conditioner after using the Hydrate Shampoo Bar, as it makes hair a bit more tangly than usual. I do find that since going blonde from my natural dark brown, my hair does get way more tangled, whatever shampoo I use. So this is not unexpected for me!
It comes in three other varieties: Volume, Smooth and Pollution Patrol. I will try the Smooth one next, as my bleached hair does have a tendency to frizz.
Infuse My. Colour Treat Conditioner Review
I used this conditioner earlier this year and loved it as part of my pink hair regime, combined with My. Haircare’s Ruby shampoo. But as I am a product magpie, I am always trying new things. But the other conditioners I’ve tried just haven’t matched up to this one, so I’m really happy to have it back in my life!
One of the reasons I tried other conditioners was the price – it is ยฃ18 for 250ml, which is certainly not cheap. However I use about a quarter of what I was using of my other cheaper conditioner, so actually on balance, I think this is probably around the same price per wash.

This conditioner smells lovely and after you apply it to wet hair, you can comb any tangles out with ease. It rinses out easily, and leaves hair silky soft and smooth.
My verdict on My. Haircare Hydrate Shampoo Bar and Infuse My. Colour Treat Conditioner
I took these pictures after using My. Haircare Hydrate Shampoo Bar followed by Infuse My. Colour Treat Conditioner, and it’s soft, silky and shiny. I didn’t straighten it before these photos so it doesn’t have any shine from straighteners or styling products.
I’m so pleased with how my hair looks, it looks even seeker when I’ve straightened it. I’ll be carrying on using both the Hydrate Shampoo Bar and the Treat Conditioner, and I’m happy to make a more eco-friendly choice of shampoo that works so well.

I wondered if you have tried the Tabitha James Kraan range? It is very pricey but the ingredients are great and the companyโs ethics are credible. I too have bleached waist length hair and since going greener my hair always resembles candy floss after shampooing and I have to use a lot more conditioner than I used to do I can get the matted tangles out. Thanks for this review. I guess we just want it all donโt we?
