7 Sustainable, Organic Clothing Brands You Should Know About

September is a month full of eco-awareness drives: Organic September, Sustainable September and Second Hand September. So I’m taking the opportunity to introduce you to my favourite sustainable, organic clothing brands. Can you find something from these organic, sustainable clothing brands second hand on Depop or eBay? Even better!

As you’ll see from the variety of my hair styles, these organic, sustainable clothes stand the test of time: I’ve had them for years and years and they still look good and are on regular rotation in my wardrobe.

Why These Organic Clothing Brands Should Be On Your Radar

Shopping secondhand is the most eco-friendly and sustainable way to buy clothes. But I do like to support sustainable, organic fashion brands too, when I can’t find a secondhand alternative. I think it’s important to support ethical and sustainable brands when we can to show that there is demand for organic, sustainable and slow fashion.

All these sustainable and organic clothing companies use organic cotton or bamboo in their clothes.

Organic cotton is grown using methods with a lower impact on the environment. It’s grown without using toxic pesticides and fertilisers, which helps build biologically diverse agriculture. This means it’s better for the planet, for the farmers, the garment workers and the people who wear the clothes. Organic cotton is better quality than non-organic and is hypoallergenic.

Organic fabrics care certified by GOTS and OEKO-TEX and you can read more about what that means through those links.

Boody Is My Go-To Sustainable and Organic Clothing Brand for Basics

I’m a huge fan of organic bamboo – it’s super soft, with comfortable stretch and is naturally antimicrobial. Plus, as bamboo is naturally fast growing and doesn’t require any pesticides or fertiliser. Bamboo is water efficient, and gives much higher yields per area than cotton. All of this makes bamboo a great option for organic clothing, like the sustainable and organic clothing from Boody.

I’ve had these Boody basic camisole and leggings for years they still look good. This bra and shorts set are also firm favourites.

BAM Is The Sustainable Clothing Brand For Active Wear (And Jeans!)

I’ve had my BAM Clothing organic cotton and bamboo jeans for nearly a year now and love them! As with Boody, BAM Clothing use bamboo for their sustainable and organic clothing. They have a great range of active wear too. You can read more about my BAM organic cotton and bamboo jeans on my blog post, to see why I love them so much!
