Are you looking for a clean mascara, that works, with no compromises on performance or ingredients? I’ve found a few really great clean mascaras but I’m always keen to see if I can do even better. So when I saw Mitzi Mascara from Eco by Sonya Driver, with its 100/100 Yuka review, I had to try it.
So does this clean mascara, which promises the ‘drama of the 90’s’ live up to it’s ยฃ25 price tag? Read on for my in depth review of Eco by Sonya Driver’s Mitzi Mascara, to see if it matches up to my high expectations (and that gorgeous gold packaging!)
How Mitzi Mascara Looks On Me
Let’s start with a photo of how Mitzi Mascara looks on me. Im lucky enough to have naturally long lashes, but I’m impressed with how dark, full and separated my lashes look with two coats of this clean, vegan, cruelty-free mascara.
(I’m also wearing Madara CC Cream, Madara Concealer, and Love the Planet Powder.)

And here are some close ups of my lashes. As you can see, you can see Mitzi Mascara clearly builds the volume between 1 and 2 coats. And there’s a less noticeable volume build between 2 and 3 coats.

About Mitzi Mascara
Eco by Sonya Driver says, “For a deep root lift and lash separation without the irritation of nasty ingredients. An intense pigment that is smudge-resistant to make your eyes pop! Curl, define and intensify. Suitable for sensitive eyes, Vegan, ophthalmologist-tested.”
Here is the list of ingredients:
Aqua (Water)**, CI 77499 (Iron Oxides)**, Copernicia Cerifera Cera (Carnauba Wax)**, Tribehenin (Plant Derived)**, Hydrogenated Olive Oil Stearyl Esters**, Glyceryl Behenate (Plant Derived)**, Palmitic Acid (Vegetable Derived)**, Propanediol (Vegetabel Derived)**, Polyglyceryl-6 Distearate (Vegetable Derived)**, VP/Eicosene Copolymer, Euphorbia Cerifera Cera (Candelilla Wax)**, Silica (Natural Vegan)**, Stearic Acid (Plant Derived)**, Rhus Succedanea Fruit Cera (Fruit Wax)**, Xanthan Gum (Plant Derived)**, Caprylyl Glycol, Aminomethyl Propanediol, Hydroxyacetophenone, 1,2-Hexanediol, Panthenol
**Natural

It has an plastic brush with fine bristles that separate my lashes well. The tapered end is small enough to get to the root of the lashes without going all over the eyelids.
I didn’t have to comb my lashes through after application, and see how full and even they look:

How Well Does Mitzi Clean Mascara Last?

At the end of the day, my lashes still looked volumised, lengthened and dark. There are a few tiny flakes of mascara beneath my eyes that I barely even notice. If I were going out, that would be easily corrected with a cotton bud.
How Easy is it to Remove?
This clean, vegan mascara lasts so well, that it is not the easiest to remove. I use an oil-based make-up remover and a reusable bamboo pad to gently wipe it away.
The one bit of feedback I’d give to Eco by Sonya Driver is that the packaging is not eco-friendly. It’s beautiful and premium, but I don’t think I can recycle it. Because it’s pretty chunky, it is heavy and takes a lot of materials. I would love it if they could make a refillable version!
You can buy Mitzi Mascara in Perfect Black (which is the colour I chose) or in Brown for a more subtle look. Each are ยฃ25 which I appreciate is quite expensive. But it lasts for absolutely ages, and the ingredients are as premium as the results, so for me, it’s well worth it.
I can’t imagine I will every find a better clean, vegan, cruelty-free mascara than Mitzi Mascara.
