I’d like to introduce to you a wonder skincare/make-up hybrid product that I can’t live without. I know that is a strong claim, but I’m using Madara Hyaluronic Anti-Pollution City CC Cream SPF15 every day, and am really quite obsessed. In fact, it’s so good, I bought two more when they were on offer! Yes, it’s that good. I panic if I run out.
So what makes Madara City CC Cream SPF15 so, so good? Read my review of Madara Hyaluronic Anti-Pollution City CC to find out why it’s my desert island product.

The Madara Brand
I have tried lots and lots of Madara skincare products, and I have loved them all. (You can read my review of Madara deodorants here.) Madara products are totally natural in origin, and certified according to the international ECOCERT standard. This prohibits the use of synthetic perfumes, synthetic preservatives like parabens, mineral oil, propylene glycol and other synthetics. You can read all about Madara’s stellar line up here.
Madara Hyaluronic Anti-Pollution CC Cream Review
The CC in CC Cream stands for Colour Correcting or Complexion Correcting and is very similar to a BB Cream (BB stands for Beauty Balm). It’s basically a clever hybrid of skincare and makeup, giving a hit of moisture, SPF15 and coverage in a foundation-like consistency. Madara Hyaluronic Anti-Pollution CC Cream also has super-moisturiser hyaluronic acid in it as an added bonus. That’s what makes it a dessert island product: so many benefits in one tube!
Madara say: “This anti-pollution CC cream corrects all skin tone imperfections, including dullness, redness, sallowness and dark spots. With broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen and deeply hydrating hyaluronic acid, CITY CC is silky textured, combining multiple skin care benefits and beautifying action for a flawless, yet natural looking finish.”
Madara Hyaluronic Anti-Pollution CC Cream SPF15 comes in four shades, Light Beige, Medium Beige which are the original shades, now renamed Light and Medium, and Beige and Tan, which are a little darker. As I have very fair skin, I chose Light. It’s a good match for my skin tone, as you can see on my hand. I now use Beige, which is a little less pink in tone.

How to Use this Clean CC Cream
As with all BB and CC creams, you can use it alone, or over your day cream or SPF. Then you can apply foundation, concealer and/or powder on top, depending on how much coverage you like.
Compared to BB creams I have used in the past, this CC cream gives better coverage. It’s great to have the broad spectrum natural SPF15, though I wouldn’t recommend relying on this as your only sun protection. I use it after my Kri Tinted Mineral Sunscreen SPF30 or over Madara’s Plant Stem Cell Age Defying Sunscreen SPF30, which are also tinted.
Although this CC cream is fairly thick, and packed full of moisturiser, I don’t find it at all greasy. It is suitable for all skin types and it doesn’t clog my pores. I do get shine break through after a few hours, but that is standard for me. I think it would be good for oilier skins, without a moisturiser underneath.
City CC Coverage
I’ve taken some before and after pictures to try and show the coverage. You may not be able to see the difference on my iPhone shots, but hopefully you’ll get an idea.

Because of acne scarring, and mum-related undereye dark circles, I need to wear concealer and foundation over the top of the CC cream. It makes a fantastic make-up base. If you’re lucky enough to have lovely skin, this CC cream may be enough coverage for you.

How to Get Every Last Drop of your Madara CC Cream
The only slight issue I have with Madara products is that unless you cut open the tubes, you’ll waste a lot of the product. But never fear, just get a tube squeezer like this one! Iit works on all tubes, including toothpaste and tomato puree, I use it all the time.
Just feed it through the rollers, hold the handles and wind through. Make sure you have a little pot ready to catch the cream – it can come out quite quickly!
And then after that, you’ll still need to cut open the tube to scrape out every last drop using a clean spatula. Then you can wash it and recycle it.
Madara Now Make More Make-up!
UPDATE! Madara have now started doing make-up and it’s just as amazing as this CC Cream. Read all about Madara’s foundation and concealer here. It’s a game changer. And it comes in a more inclusive range of shades.
Madara also have two mascaras, and I have reviewed the first mascara, Deep Matter, here.
