When you’re trying to cut down on plastic, it can feel overwhelming. And when you also want to use green, ethical companies with natural ingredients and no nasties, it narrows the field even more. But I realised that I haven’t ever done a proper review of my favourite (almost) plastic-free organic cleansers from Evolve Organic Beauty, and that needed to change.
I love, love, love these low-plastic, organic facial cleansers from Evolve Organic Beauty, in fact the Gentle Cleansing Melt was one of my very first clean beauty purchases, years and years ago.
It has made a massive difference to my spot-prone-yet-ageing skin. The Daily Detox Facial Wash is perfect for the morning, and as the second evening step in my cleansing regime. Evolve Organic Beauty have loads of other gorgeous clean beauty products, all packaged in glass containers.
A Little About Evolve Organic Beauty
Evolve Organic Beauty are a B Corp, all their products are vegan and cruelty-free and Cosmos Organic certified with Eco Cert. They use upcycled ingredients, FSC grass paper cartons, which reduces water usage by 99.9%, and carbon dioxide production by 75%. Plus their studio is powered by renewable energy and they are a carbon neutral company, heading towards net zero. Formulas are GMO-free and produced in small batches for freshness, in Hertfordshire, and they are a Living Wage Employer. Although there is a little plastic in the packaging, they have been accredited ‘plastic negative’ since 2020. Oh, and they also offer a 90 day no-quibble returns policy. There’s literally nothing not to like about this clean green company, in my opinion.
Evolve Organic Beauty Gentle Cleansing Melt Review
So, let’s start out with Evolve Organic Beauty Gentle Cleansing Melt, which you can buy here. This luxe cleansing balm is suitable for all skin types, even oily. This almost plastic-free organic cleanser is 100% natural, and 50% certified organic and it has won awards, including three from the Beauty Shortlist Awards, and one from Naturisimo.

It comes in an amber jar, which can be recycled easily, or reused (I have a stash that I am planning to use as containers for DIY candles.) The only plastic is in the lid, which again can be recycled. The box is made from grass, and can also be recycled.

So the outside is all good, what about what’s in that glass jar? Well here is a photo, and as you can see it’s a thick, water-free balm. It smells gorgeous and feels so bouncy and pillowy on the skin as you apply it. Here’s what Evolve Organic Beauty say about this organic facial cleanser:
“This luxurious cleansing balm contains nourishing organic baobab oil that soothes and hydrates. Natural sugar extracts gently combine with water to turn into a creamy milk that rinses away clean, leaving skin clean, calm and hydrated.”
To use this almost plastic-free organic cleanser, you just massage over your dry face, including the eye area. Add a splash of warm water and it will transform into a rich creamy milk. Rinse away, or massage away with a washcloth soaked in warm water, and you get a gentle exfoliation too. It gets rid of every scrap of make-up and leaves skin feeling wonderful. Although it’s not the cheapest cleanser, you only need a little, so it lasts for ages.
I just love it, and so do loads of other natural beauty fans like me, it’s one of their bestsellers and 97% of their reviewers recommend it, with 4.9 out of 5 stars.

Evolve Organic Beauty Daily Detox Facial Wash Review
Next, let me introduce you to Evolve Organic Beauty Daily Detox Facial Wash, which you can buy here. This (almost) plastic-free organic cleanser is my favourite face wash and I use it every morning. It is suitable for normal to oily skin, but as I’m getting older my formerly oily skin is now getting dryer, and it is still perfect for me and never dries out my skin. This face wash is 99.6% natural and 72.2% certified organic. This facial cleanser also won a Beauty Shortlist Award, and is a worthy winner in my eyes.

This organic facial wash comes in an amber bottle, which can be recycled easily, or reused. The pump is plastic, but once you have bought it once, you can order a pump-free version the next time, so you can reuse it, and save £1 at the same time. if you choose that option, it comes with juts the metal screw cap you can see on the bottle here. The box is made from grass, and can also be recycled.

“A delicately foaming facial wash to detoxify and rebalance normal to combination skin. Natural sugars cleanse away impurities and organic aloe vera softens, leaving skin clean, smooth and supple. Natural Goji Berry extract and Moringa Peptides defend against pollution.”
You just massage this organic cleansing wash over your damp face and neck and rinse away with warm water. I use it in the shower every morning, and also as a second step in my evening double cleanse, after the Evolve Gentle Cleansing Melt. Just one pump is enough, so the bottle lasts ages.
Like the cleansing balm, this organic facial wash gets 4.9 out of a possible 5 stars, with 100% or reviewers recommending it.
