Have you found the perfect clean day cream yet? My long-term favourite natural SPF30 day cream is hard to beat but I think I’ve found one that’s even better! Last month I tried BYBI Beauty for the first time (read about the brilliant night skincare products I tried here) and was so impressed I wanted to try more. I have found that my old faithful clean day cream is not quite rich enough for my skin now, so need an alternative.
BYBI Day Defence SPF30 Day Cream has great reviews so I bought a tube to test out. Read on to see if this clean, vegan, sustainable day cream lives up to the hype!
About Day Defence SPF30 Moisturiser by BYBI
This clean day cream ticks all my boxes. It has a good SPF level of 30, broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection that comes from non-nano zinc oxide. It’s vegan and cruelty-free, with a reef-friendly mineral formula. It comes in a pale pink tube made from sugarcane, which is a waste material, which is 100% recyclable. And it’s also more reasonably priced than comparable clean day creams.
The Perfect Clean Day Cream Formula
This clean day cream needs a bit of a shake to ensure it’s mixed – I find it separates slightly if I don’t. It’s a fairly thick, cream-coloured cream.
As you can see, this clean day cream spreads evenly but stays very visible. It takes a little working in to the skin to absorb well.
Once it’s absorbed though, this clean SPF 30 moisturiser is invisible on my white skin and gives a slight glow. BYBI say, “As Day Defence contains mineral SPF, when applying the correct amount, initially a small white cast may be visible on darker skin tones, however in our trials we found that this disappeared once fully absorbed into the skin.”
The reviews for BYBI Day Defence SPF30 Moisturiser were by and large very positive. But some reviewers say it’s greasy and others said it’s drying and you need to wear a moisturiser too. That intrigued me! My skin is combination and prone to spots, yet as I’m 41, it is also getting lines and dryer areas. I find it’s rich enough to wear by itself, but also I tried it with a serum beneath and didn’t find it too heavy or greasy.
Over the summer I’ve been using Sukin Sheer Touch Sun Screen, which is another favourite. I find this Day Defence cream less sun-cream-like and more like a daily moisturiser.
How BYBI Day Defence SPF30 Moisturiser Wears Under Make-up
I’m impressed with how this clean day cream wears beneath make-up. It isn’t greasy and my make-up looks pretty much freshly-applied at the end of the day. These photos were taken first thing in the morning and in the afternoon and mu make-up still looks fresh.
So I have found my new perfect SPF30 clean day cream.
