Review: Love Lula February Beauty Box

PHB Ethical Beauty Gentle Moisturiser

I was pleased to see a product from PHB as they are one of my favourite green beauty brands. This Gentle Moisturiser is fragrance-free, and hypoallergenic, so it’s perfect for sensitive skin. It contains apricot and shea butter, amongst other natural goodness. Despite being thick in consistency, it sinks in well and gives skin a pretty matte finish.

I’ve tried it out in the day and found it surprisingly good before make-up. I personally prefer a day cream with SPF built in, so will be using this one at night.

PHB products are vegan, cruelty-free, make in the UK and free from palm oil. They don’t use any toxic synthetic chemicals, harsh alcohols or GMOs, and 20% of their net profits go to charity.

Seascape Island Apothecary Soothe Sleep Oil

Described as a “lullaby in a bottle” this rollerball contains 100% natural oils, including lavender oil to relax and calm. It also has grape seed, sweet almond, butter orange flower, and mandarin orange peel oils. Lavender is the dominant fragrance and it’s a nice soothing treat to roll over the temples and wrists before bed time. It’s suitable for pregnant women and free from parabens, silicones, SLS, petroleum, artificial colours and fragrances.

Crazy Rumors Hot Cocoa Lip Balm

I love a 100% natural lip balm, and have tried several different ones from Love Lula over the years. Crazy Rumors is a new brand for me though. This super-moisturising balm is vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free, and contains organic shea butter and jojoba oil. The Hot Cocoa flavour tastes and smells very sweet and chocolaty, with a marshmallow tang. I went to kiss the girls goodnight when wearing it, and they thought I’d been sneaking chocolate. Although I am a chocolate fan, it’s a bit too sweet for me.

Balm Balm Fragrance-Free Face Balm

I am getting a small stockpile of Balm Balm products; they pop up quite regularly in the Beauty Boxes. Because you only need a tiny amount, they last for ages. This one is fragrance-free, so another good option for those with sensitive skin, and can also be used on babies. It’s 100% natural, and contains shea butter, sunflower, beeswax, jojoba and calendula.

Walden Natural Perfume Oil

This cute little portable rollerball perfume is handbag-friendly, with no nasties. I’m personally not overly keen on the scent, which is described as a ‘blend of oak moss, labdanum and patchouli’, as I don’t like patchouli, and find it a bit too masculine for my taste.
