Earth Harbour Clean Skincare Review
Two products from new-to-me natural skincare brand Earth Harbour came up in my Skin-Nomad recommendations. The packaging is so pretty I decided to try them both.
Earth Harbour are a woman-owned, vegan, carbon neutral and plastic-neutral brand. Their small batch clean skincare products are suitable for all skin types and daily use, and are allergy tested.
Check out those gorgeous colours and the sustainable glass bottles. But do these skincare treats perform as well as they look?
Sunshine Dew Antioxidant Cleansing Oil Review
I am a big fan of oil cleansing, and since using oil-based cleansers my skin has improved so much. This gorgeous Sunshine Dew Cleansing Oil feels as beautiful as it looks, and it smells lovely too.
Skin-Nomad say “Infused with antioxidant-rich oils and Sea Kelp + Papaya Enzymes, this oil removes impurities, pollution, and makeup with no tugging or scrubbing needed. Just massage onto skin and rinse away for a soft, hydrated, and bright complexion.”
This natural oil cleanser is like sunshine in a (sustainable glass) bottle. These silky ew drops sail over your dry face, dissolving make-up and dirt quickly and easily.
Even though it’s oil-based, it doesn’t feel greasy, just like a lovely luxe treat for your skin. Massaging this oil into my face is a gorgeous way to end the day, and it removes mascara too, with no stinging. Bliss.
Earth Harbour Samphire Biotic Perfecting Serum Review
I love the sound of this Samphire Biotic Perfecting Serum “made from wildcrafted Sea Samphire, a magical botanical that mimics retinol.”
Skin-Nomad say “Unlike its harsh counterpart, this green treasure is gentle and safe for all skin types, packed with phyto-Vitamin C for round-the-clock renewal.” It promises to hydrate skin whilst shielding it from harmful blue light from screens.
This 5-in-1 serum clarifies, blurs, balances, exfoliates and calms, when you use 2-4 drops morning and evening.
I haven’t been using it long enough to see if does all that, but it sinks in beautifully, feels wonderful and my skin does seem brighter.
Isntree Tw-real Eye Cream Review
A good eye cream is an essential part of my skincare regime. Isntree Tw-real Eye Cream sounds intriguing. According to Skin-Nomad, it “contains 61% concentrated bifida fermented lysate to combat fine lines and dark circles”. Plus is has shea butter, mango seed butter, and natural oils and three peptides. This clean eye cream should enhance skin elasticity and address discoloration and dullness.
So the perfect all-rouder!
It’s a generous sized 30 ml tube, so it’ll last a long time, as it’s so concentrated. You can also use it on other areas like the forehead, smile lines and on your neck.
It has a lovely texture, like a gel-cream. It feels nourishing but not greasy so you can use it beneath make-up and overnight.
Avocado Zinc SPFs from Skin-Nomad
The right SPF is absolutely vital, as if you don’t like wearing it, it’s too tempting to skip it! Which would be very bad news. I tend to wear a tinted SPF30 in winter but always bump up to SPF50 in the spring and summer.
Skin-Nomad have plenty of good SPF options to choose from including Avocado Zinc natural SPFs. Avocado Zinc are based in Australia, where they know their sunscreens.
Skin-Nomad stock Avocado Zinc’s SPF50 sunscreen, and SPF50 Natural Tinted Moisturiser, in Light, Medium and Tan. Plus there are three pretty shades of SPF50 Lip & Cheek Tint. They are all broad spectrum physical Zinc Oxide mineral sunscreens, rather than chemical sunscreens, which I prefer.
Avocado Zinc SPF50 Natural Tinted Moisturiser Review
I decided to try Skin-Nomad’s Avocado Zinc SPF50 Natural Tinted Moisturiser which is all natural. It’s reef-safe, with 4 hours water resistance, and is fragrance and preservative-free. I’m pleased to say I love it. Not only is it a great high SPF of 50, it is also tinted and gives skin a lovely glow. I chose the palest shade but there are two darker shades to choose from too.
As you can see above, the Light shade is a great match for my pale skin. It blends away to leave nothing but a perfected, glowy finish. Because it’s tinted, there is no white cast. It’s a moisturising formula, and gives skin a dewy glow.
Skin-Nomad say this vegan, 100% natural, tinted SPF50 moisturiser “provides light coverage, to even out imperfections and is the perfect tinted sunscreen alternative to traditional foundation.” In my opinion, it doesn’t give as much coverage as a foundation. However I feel totally comfortable wearing this with a little concealer. It gives reasonable coverage, as you can see in this un-retouched photo.
It leaves a natural-looking radiance to the skin, but without powder, may look a little too shiny for everyone’s taste.
I think this moisturiser would be a bit rich for oily skin, but perfect for combination, dry, sensitive and mature skin.
How Avocado Zinc SPF50 Natural Tinted Moisturiser Wears
When I review sunscreens, I apply it beneath my regular make-up and take a photo when it’s freshly applied. I also take a photo later in the day to see how it wears, without adding powder. Then finally I apply a fresh layer of sunscreen over the top of the make-up, to see if it goes lumpy or streaky. Applying a fresh layer actually didn’t ruin my make-up, I think it actually made it look better!
Because you have to reapply sunscreen every few hours to get the best protection, I think it’s vital that you can add more, even over make-up. I’ve tried applying it with my fingers and a brush and both work well. I recommend patting it, rather than rubbing it in to your skin, and letting it dry before adding any make-up, to make sure you don’t get any pilling.
Avocado Zinc SPF 50 Natural Lip & Cheek Tint Review
Have you ever bought a SPF lipbalm, and then been unable to use it because of the bitter taste? I’ve been stung a few times (I use them as an eyebrow balm now!)
So I was eager to try a SPF lip tint, and hoped it wouldn’t taste horrible. And thankfully Avocado Zinc’s SPF 50 Natural Lip & Cheek Tint doesn’t taste of anything.
The twist up recycled tube and cardboard box are recyclable.
It has a high SPF of 50, and you can use it on lips and cheeks, and eyelids. This natural tinted balm goes on smoothly and blends well over cheeks or wherever you use it.
Skin-Nomad say; “Formulated with 100% natural ingredients like nourishing Avocado Oil, Shea Butter, Castor Oil, and Vitamin E, this non-comedogenic sun stick tints, hydrates and protects your skin.”
I love it on my cheeks, but the shade is not quite right for my lips. So I will be buying the pink Berry shade to use as a lip balm.
