Have you been seeing ads for LED masks popping up on your social feeds? Me too! I have been wondering if they’re worth the hype for a while. I started to do some research into which to try, but quickly became overwhelmed. Just as I was about to shut my laptop thinking I’d look at it another day, an email from Project E Beauty popped into my inbox. They offered to send me one of their LED light therapy masks for an honest review here, along with a LumaLux discount code for you.
That seemed like a sign! So how did I get on with the LumaLux Pro LED Light Therapy Mask? Read my honest review to find out.
The Benefits of LED Light Therapy
The appeal of LED light therapy for me is that it’s non-invasive, gentle yet effective, and now can be done at home thanks to masks like the LumaLux Pro. LED light therapy can help with fine lines, blemishes, hyperpigmentation, dullness, redness, and scarring, and even help boost collagen.
According to the BBC, Nasa first began studying the effect of LEDs in the 1990s to see if it could help in cell regeneration, with medical-grade devices being used by dermatologists for many years. The main differences between medical devices the masks available to the public are the strength of the LEDs, the number of bulbs on the device and how close they sit to the skin’s surface when being used.
But not all at-home LED masks are created equal.
“LumaLux centers on the concept of optimal LED light therapy delivery to harness the best possible skin results from home. LumaLux Face has 8 unique treatment modes using scientifically proven light wavelengths to support full skin rejuvenation and combat every common skin concern. It boosts collagen, smooths fine lines, targets blemishes, balances hyperpigmentation, reduces redness and inflammation, and soothes irritation, all with the clinically backed power of light.”

So What Makes the LumaLux Mask different?
This LED light therapy mask has a number of features that make it stand out from the rest:
- It has 7 colours, plus infrared and deep infrared, and scientifically proven wavelengths (460-1072nm) for comprehensive skin rejuvenation
- LumaLux say red (630nm) infrared (850nm) and deep infrared (1072nm) are clinically proven to be the most powerful anti-aging combination on the market
- With 800 high-grade LEDs, it has 400% more than the industry average (as a comparison, one I keep seeing advertised on my Facebook timeline from a big brand has 236 LEDs
- LumaLux say this mask gives clinical level results in quick 3 minute sessions
- And it has a new deep infrared light therapy (1072nm) designed to penetrate deeper into the skin to support advanced phase collagen production
Here are the specifications in case you want to this LED mask to another mask you’ve been looking at:
- RED LED LIGHT: 630nm
- INFRARED LIGHT: 850nm
- DEEP INFRARED LIGHT: 1072nm
- BLUE LED LIGHT: 460nm
- GREEN LED LIGHT: 520nm
- PURPLE LED LIGHT: 460 + 630nm

With LED light therapy proven to help support collagen and calm inflammation, I was keen to see whether the LumaLux Face Pro could deliver those benefits at home.
What’s in the Box?
No review of the LumaLux Pro LED Light Therapy Mask would be complete without a run down of what you get in the box. The mask comes in a sturdy cardboard box and contains
- the LED face mask
- the neck mask
- the power unit and controller
- the cables you need to both charge it and to power the masks from the the controller
- a strap to secure the neck piece to another part of your body
- a soft pouch to keep it in
- a sample of a face serum

After charging the power unit up overnight, I plugged in the mask to see how many lights there are. This is the red mode, and there’s a significant covering of bright lights.

How to Use the LumaLux Pro LED Light Therapy Mask

One of the best things about the LumaLux LED mask is that it’s so easy to use. Charge it using the cable provided, and then simply wrap it around your face, secure it with the velcro tabs.
Press the On button and scroll through the settings to find the one you want.
Sit back and relax as it gets to work.
I popped it in my suitcase to take on holiday and my kids found it hilarious.
Each cycle takes just 3 minutes! Although you can watch TV or walk around as it works, I find it a bit bright. So I take the opportunity to close my eyes and do some relaxing breathing exercises. I use it before bed after cleansing my face. It’s a lovely way to wind down and give your skin some easy TLC.

Because I have the neck piece in addition to the LED Light Therapy Face Mask, I either wear a vest top and tuck it under the front, or pop it on beneath my top and feed the wire through the sleeve. The lead plugs into the same controller.
What I Love About the LumaLux Pro LED Light Therapy Mask
There are many things that make the LumaLux Pro LED Light Therapy Mask a winner in my eyes.
1: This LED Light Therapy Mask is so comfortable. Unlike some LED masks I’ve seen, it’s made of nice bendy silicone, so it drapes over your face and doesn’t squash your nose or feel claustrophobic.
2: It’s so quick and easy to use. Just pop it on, turn it on and let it get to work in just three minutes. I experimented with using the green cycle, followed by the red cycle and that worked well for me. So that was six minutes.
3. It’s non-invasive. I prefer using natural methods to help my skin as much as I can.
4. It has a much higher amount of LEDs than other masks I was looking at.
5. It has protective cushions around the eyes.
LED Light Therapy Mask Results
So the big question – does LunaLux mask would deliver noticeable results? I’ll let you judge for yourself with my unfiltered, make-up-free before and after photos. I used the red and green modes for 6 weeks, every other day. And I’ve kept to my normal skincare regime and not tried any new products.

Even with the different lighting, I think my skin looks fresher, less inflamed and red. I think the crows’ feet and the lines around my mouth look softer. My skin generally looks clearer and brighter, and also feels a little firmer. It’s not a quick fix, but I’m happy to carry on using it as I’m encouraged by these early results. I think it’s also an excellent, easy way to help stop more signs of ageing appearing.
I have a scar on the side of my nose, from where I opened a car door into my own face when I was a sleep-deprived new mum. That has faded a little so I don’t have to use concealer now – my foundation or CC cream covers it without any extra help.
