July Love Lula Beauty Box Review

You may know that I’m an accredited blogger for Love Lula, the most amazing natural beauty shop. As part of that role, I receive the monthly Love Lula Beauty Box. Each month, I use the products for a little while before reviewing them. Previous months’ beauty boxes have been wonderful, and have introduced me to some lovely new chemical-free products and brands. Last month’s included a fab face mask and an amazing all purpose balm. May’s Beauty Box had a fab facial wash, styling spray and moisturiser. I love trying new products and this is a really economical way of doing that.

So What’s In The Love Lula Beauty Box This Month?

July’s Love Lula Beauty Box contains:

  • Madara Smart Antioxidants Fine Line Minimising Day Cream 20ml, (full size is 50ml and costs £35)
  • Lyonsleaf Soften and Rejuvenate Marshmallow Facial Oil 30ml, currently on offer for £12.99
  • PHB Ethical Beauty All-In-One Mascara, £15.95
  • John Masters Organics Spearmint & Meadowsweet Scalp Stimulating Shampoo (full size is 236ml and costs £19)
  • A sample size of REN Satin Perfection BB Cream (full size is 50ml and costs £29)

The contents of this Love Lula Beauty Box are worth £60, but it only costs £13.95 for a recurring monthly subscription. You also get a code for 20% off each of the brands for the rest of the month. That means you can save some money when you buy the full size, or another product from your newly discovered brands. You can also just buy a single box for £19.95.

Madara Smart Antioxidants Fine Line Minimising Day Cream

Thanks to previous Love Lula Beauty Boxes, I am a fan of Madara. Their products are free from harmful chemicals and preservatives, certified by Ecocert, and not tested on animals. Their  Madara Smart Antioxidants Fine Line Minimising Day Cream is a rich day cream, with “an age-defying smart antioxidant complex of lichen, moss, fern and alchemilla.” They say it “delivers intense hydration and targets the first signs of ageing.” For my oily skin, it’s too rich to use as a day cream. They do, however do a lighter fluid version, which I think would be more suitable. I’ve been using it at night for a couple of nights, and it’s way too soon to expect to see any difference to my fine lines. But so far, the texture is lovely and it sinks in well, leaving my skin nice and soft. It also smells delightful.

Lyonsleaf Soften and Rejuvenate Marshmallow Facial Oil

Lyonsleaf Marshmallow Facial Oil from the July Love Lula Beauty Box

Lyonsleaf is a new brand for me, and I was pleased to receive a facial oil, as I have just run out of my last one, which I loved. This Lyonsleaf Soften and Rejuvenate Marshmallow Facial Oil is rich and feels like it’s doing your skin good. It’s made in the UK, cruelty-free and free from artificial colour, fragrance, preservatives, chemicals and petroleum derivatives. In other words, totally natural. It does smell quite strong initially, but that fades quite quickly, and as I use it at night, it doesn’t matter as I’ll be asleep and won’t notice it! The pump bottle means it doesn’t get messy, and helps keep it fresh, without preservatives.

REN Satin Perfection BB Cream

I have used a few REN products in the past, and have liked them but not been wowed. So I would never have taken the chance on spending £29 on a BB cream without testing it first. So I love that a mini version of their Satin Perfection BB Cream was included in my Love Lula Beauty Box this month. I was initially alarmed by the colour, as it didn’t look like it would suit me at all. When I rubbed it in, however, it was nearly invisible. It is a good match for my skin tone, but only provides minimal coverage, so I need to add mineral foundation on top. I experimented with a thicker layer and that gave more coverage. It has SPF15 too, which I think is a nice bonus but I would always wear a sunscreen too as SPF 15 is not really high enough protection in summer. It’s not as good as my favourite Madara CC Cream which you can read about here.

PHB Ethical Beauty All-In-One Mascara

PHB Ethical Beauty All-In-One Mascara is my all-time favourite mascara, even beating conventional chemical-laden ones. So although I would have liked to test a new mascara, I know that I love this one and have already re-purchased it a number of times.

You can read my full review of this wonder-mascara here. This review is for the older version, which I do slightly prefer to this new one. I believe the formula is the same but I don’t like the new brush as much. It’s still great though, and you may find you like the new one!

John Masters Organics Spearmint & Meadowsweet Scalp Stimulating Shampoo

This is the second John Masters Shampoo I’ve tried, as one came in May’s Love Lula Beauty Box. I wasn’t overly keen on that one, as it took a lot of effort to get it to lather. The John Masters Organics Spearmint & Meadowsweet Scalp Stimulating Shampoo is much easier to later, and washed made my hair feel thicker and bouncier. It does smell a little like Germolene though, but luckily that didn’t last!

My Final Thoughts on July’s Love Lula Beauty Box

Becky Pink after using the Love Lula Beauty Box for July

So here is a picture of me after using the Facial Oil and Line Minimising Cream for a few nights. I’m wearing the REN BB cream as a base for my mineral make-up, and two coats of the PHB Mascara. I used the John Masters Shampoo with a Green People conditioner and my hair is pretty shiny and soft (though I only had it dyed a few days ago) and looks thicker than normal. So all in all I’m very happy with this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box!

If you’re interested in what lipstick I’m wearing, it’s Pacifica Natural Lipstick in Firebird, which I reviewed a few weeks ago and am slightly obsessed with!

  1. I am yet to try Line Minimising Cream from Madara but I am not sure whether it would be good for my combination skin, a bit worried that may cause breakouts. Do you apply it everywhere or only where you see fine lines?

    1. Hi Petra, thanks for your question. I have oily/combo skin and haven’t noticed any break outs since using it. I just pat on a thin layer all over and so far so good! xx
