Green People are one of my favourite natural and organic skincare brands. I’ve reviewed some of their gorgeous Age Defy+ organic anti-ageing skincare products in the past. They’ve expanded this range to include a Time Traveller Gift Set, which includes a facial exfoliator and a moisturiser. Green People also have the loveliest Coconut Charcoal Purifying Face Mask and I’ve been using them together with really pleasing results. Read on for my review of natural and organic anti-ageing skincare from Green People.
Green People’s Ethical and Eco Credentials
In case you’re not already a fan of Green People – one of the many reasons I love them is that they avoid so many nasty ingredients: parabens, alcohol, harsh foaming agents, SLS/SLES, gluten, petrochemicals, mineral oils, silicones, lanolin, phthalates, triclosan, propylene glycol, irritating emulsifiers, synthetic fragrance, ethoxylated ingredients, formaldehyde and formaldehyde-donors, methylisothiazolinone, EDTA, PABA-sunscreen, octyl methoxycinnamate, camphor-derived UV filters, colourants, urea, DEA, TEA or PEGs. Quite a list!
Green People were one of the first companies to have cosmetic products certified organic by the Soil Association and then by Organic Food Federation and EcoCert.
Green People have also been named an Ethical Company Organisation and are certified as a cruelty-free brand by PETA.
Coconut Charcoal Purifying Face Mask Review
I’ll start with my review of the Coconut Charcoal Purifying Face Mask, which is suitable for all skin types. Green People call it a “brightening, deep-cleansing Charcoal face mask with glow-getting results”.

It’s made of 87% certified organic ingredients, including activated charcoal to absorb pollutants and help minimise the look of pores. It also has bentonite clay, which works with the charcoal to draw toxins and dirt away from the skin. The mask also contains oat lipid, which contains ceramides to help slow skin ageing. As you can see, it’s a rich, smooth, glossy black mask.

Although it is good for more mature skin, this mask also mattifies oily skin, by reducing excess oil. This means it’s great for skin that’s prone to breakouts. As I have 40 year old skin, but still get spots now and then, it’s the perfect mask for me. It feels great on the skin, and not drying, which has been my experience of some charcoal masks.
Another thing that appeals to me is that this mask is sustainably produced. It uses coconut shells which are a by-products of other coconut-based products. It comes in an easy-to-recycle or reuse glass jar.
Green People recommend using this mask once a week. You leave it on skin for 15-20 minutes, and rinse away with warm water. I also recommend using it in the shower or bath, as it’s kind of messy to remove.

Green People Age Defy+ Time Traveller Gift Set Review
I’ve been using the mask in conjunction with the Green People Age Defy+ Time Traveller Gift Set. The sturdy gift box contains two full sized products, in their own cardboard carton.

This box contains two full size Age Defy+ products: the Soft Buff Skin Exfoliator and the Brightening Moisturiser.

Age Defy+ Soft Buff Skin Exfoliator Review
Step one in the Time Traveller Gift Set is the Soft Buff Skin Exfoliator. Green People say it’s an “illuminating facial scrub to buff away dullness, refine texture and polish the skin, to reveal vibrant new skin cells.” Exfoliation lifts away dead skin cells and reveals the new skin beneath: this helps us look refreshed and younger.

This organic exfoliator contains pineapple enzymes to “dissolve protein bonds to release dead cells from the skinโs surface”. Meanwhile, bamboo gives a mild scrubby feel. The scrub also contains bentonite clay to help draw impurities to the skin’s surface.
It smells lovely and feels very gentle on the skin, and is less scrubby than many other exfoliators I’ve used. This does mean it doesn’t leave skin as soft and smooth as I’d like, but it’s still pleasant to use.
Age Defy+ Brightening Moisturiser Review
Step two in the Time Traveller Gift Set is the Brightening Moisturiser, which my skin adores. Green People call it a “high potency moisturiser to deliver intense skin hydration, fortified with clinically proven plant actives to refine skin tone whilst reducing age spots and pigmentation.”

This rich, organic moisturiser contains beech bud extract, which helps increase cell turnover to help soften lines and wrinkles. White mulberry and cucumber seed have been shown in a trial to reduce melanin production. This cream also contains pineapple enzymes which lighten and brighten skin tone.
This is quite a thick moisturiser and smells amazing. Even though it’s thick, it sinks in beautifully and leaves skin so soft and smooth and radiant. You can use it morning and night. I’ve just been using it at night as it’s a little rich for my combination skin beneath make-up.
You can buy the Green People Age Defy+ Time Traveller Gift Set for ยฃ50 here.
You can buy the Green People Age Defy+ Brightening Moisturiser on its own here for ยฃ27.
