RMS Beauty describe Straight Up Volumizing Peptide Mascara as “a clean and smudge-free mascara that delivers 12 hours of full lift and volume.” They claim the “powerful mix of living ingredients creates thick, full, long lashes, while pro peptides help strengthen, revitalize, redensify and nourish. With our exclusive tri-locking system, you get smudge-free, flake-free super long wear.”
Based on my experience with Straight Up Volumising Mascara, I’d say this is true! Here I am wearing two coats, and as you can see my lashes look long, dark and volumised.
I’m also wearing Love The Planet mineral foundation and blush which you can read about on my in depth review, and Madara Concealer which my review shows in more detail.
The brush is a natural bristle brush which I much prefer to the moulded plastic brushes. It gets to every lash, and coats it, and gives good definition. I do find I sometimes have to comb my lashes through with a lash comb before they dry, but this happens to virtually all mascaras for me.
This brush looks short and stubby, but that’s because I got the travel version ahead of our little holiday in Devon in the summer holidays.

One Coat of Straight Up Mascara
Here, I’m wearing one coat of RMS Beauty Straight Up Volumizing Peptide Mascara in HD Black. A pretty good every day mascara look, that gives a nice amount of volume and definition.
Two Coats of Straight Up Mascara
I took this photo a minute or two later, after adding a second coat of RMS Beauty Straight Up Mascara in HD Black. It makes a visible difference as you can see, in both length and volume. I didn’t apply it to my lower lashes.
(Please excuse the red eyes, this is caused by hayfever, not the mascara!)
Straight Up Mascara At The End of the Day
I took this photo at the end of the same day, to review how well RMS Beauty Straight Up Mascara wears. As you can see, the length and volume have faded a little but still look good. A few lashes have stuck together slightly, but there are zero flakes and only the tiniest of smudges at the outer corners. As mentioned, I was suffering from hayfever that day, so I was using eye drops and still no runs. That is a big tick for me!

Do I Recommend Straight Up Mascara?
I rate RMS Straight Up Volumizing Peptide Mascara highly, and think it’s the perfect all rounder. It gives a good amount of volume and length and doesn’t run or smudge. Plus it looks good at the end of the day too, even in hayfever season! If you want more dramatic length, look at Inika Long Lash Mascara, and if you want dramatic volume, check out Inika Bold Lash Mascara. However although these mascaras give amazing results on the lashes, they do occasionally run or flake a little. This RMS mascara is a great all every day, no compromise clean mascara.
