At times like these, I think it’s even more important to look after ourselves than ever. Whether that’s limiting exposure to Twitter and the news, making comfort food, going to bed early, giving yourself a home facial, or losing yourself in a great book or film, the little things mean a lot now, don’t they? I’ve been sent the loveliest package of organic skincare from Joik and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Treating my skin is one of my favourite ways of taking care of myself. So this is my Joik Organic Skincare review. I hope it inspires you to take some extra care of your skin, with skincare that feels like self care.
About Joik Skincare
I’ve used a couple of Joik Organic products before and always liked them. And their scented soy wax candles are fantastic. But this is the first time I’ve used Joik facial skincare. So here’s a bit of background on this Estonian organic skincare brand.

Joik Organic Facial Cleansing Oil Review
I’ll start by reviewing the Joik Organic Facial Cleansing Oil, which is my favourite of their products. It’s 100% natural, with 99.2% of the total ingredients from organic farming (COSMOS ORGANIC certified by Ecocert). This oil is packaged in a matte glass bottle with a plastic pump, It feels nice and substantial and is recyclable.
I love oil cleansing (which works on the principle of “oil dissolves oil”) but generally prefer oil-based cleansing balms. But this luxurious-feeling oil has converted me. The beauty of oil cleansing is that it cleans gently, yet thoroughly, without stripping it.

Organic Facial Cleansing Oil Experience
This oil cleanser has the loveliest lemony fragrance, which is so uplifting. I like to inhale the scent as I massage the oil over my face. Breathing slowly and deeply is a great way to de-stress and calm your self down.
This luxurious cleansing oil melts away make-up really well. The oil comes with a sponge, which you can dampen in warm water and use to remove the cleansing oil. I actually prefer using a washcloth or muslin as it’s quicker and easier, but it’s nice to have the option. Then you can just give skin a final rinse with cool, fresh water and pat dry.
When I’ve used oil based cleansers before, I’ve needed to remove the last traces with micellar water to get skin thoroughly clean. But with this oil, I haven’t needed to which saves me time and money buying a separate product. I also think this oil is good value for money as I only use two or three pumps at a time, and you get 100ml for £17 so it will last absolutely ages.

Joik Organic All Clear Facial Cleansing Soap Review
I was also sent two facial cleansing soaps to review: one for normal and dry skin, and one for normal and oily skin. They are 100% natural, handmade in the traditional cold-process method, and don’t contain palm oil.
The Moisture Balance Facial Cleansing Soap contains organic oils including shea-butter, coconut oil, olive oil, sunflower oil, almond oil and castor oil to nourish skin. It also contains yoghurt extract to balance the skin, and lavender, rosewood and ylang-ylang essential oils.
The All Clear Facial Cleansing Soap contains moisturising organic oils including babassu oil, olive oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil, neem oil and castor oil, plus green clay and tea tree and lemongrass essentials oils to help balance the skin.
I’ve used both soaps in the morning and they both feel lovely, and don’t irritate skin or make it feel dry or tight. I have to say I can’t notice much difference between them. So I would say just go for the one that fits your skin type if you want to buy one. I’ve also used them instead of body wash, and they work brilliantly for that too.

Joik Organic Chocolate & Pink Clay Firm & Lift Facial Mask Review
Now for the most pampering part of the Joik Organic skincare product parcel – a gorgeous face mask. The Joik Organic Chocolate & Pink Clay Firm & Lift Facial Mask is almost good enough to eat. Joik say the “delicious chocolate scent fills you with ‘happy hormones’ and relieves tensions and stress.” I think we can all do with a bit of that right now!
This 99.97% natural mask feels so luxurious, and is idea to help firm, lift and tone tired and stressed-out skin.
“Organic cocoa powder and a combination of fine textured white and red clay purify, help skin to regenerate and target signs of ageing. Cocoa powder is rich in vitamins, helps to fight off environmental damages and tightens skin.Nurturing shea butter and sunflower oil hydrate and help skin to maintain its moisture level.”

It also contains field horsetail, linseed, apple and juniper that help to reshape and firm sagging and dull skin.
This mask feels lovely and refreshing on your skin, and when you wash it off, skin looks and feels so smooth and matte. It’s my new favourite!

JOIK Organic Hand & Foot Scrub Review
And I’ll finish with another luxurious-feeling pampering product, the JOIK Organic Hand & Foot Scrub. And this has been so welcome, as my hands are so so dry and cracked from all the extra hand washing. It exfoliates skin really well, whist also nourishing it with gorgeous oils.
“Fine granulated sea salt exfoliates effectively and removes dead skin cells to reveal a smooth and renewed skin. Organic olive oil, apricot kernel oil and sweet almond oil soften and nourish skin, leaving hands and feet soft as velvet and perfectly groomed.”

This is another gorgeously-scented treat. You just scoop out a bit and rub it all over your hands or feet. Take your time and inhale the gorgeous aroma as it scrubs away dry skin.
This 100% natural scrub leaves a lovely oily film on the skin, so it keeps on moisturising your skin. It’s absolutely gorgeous.
How to Give Yourself a Facial at Home with Joik Skincare
To give yourself an at-home luxury facial, cleanse your skin with the Facial Cleansing Oil, add a layer of the Chocolate & Pink Clay Facial Mask and relax for 15 minutes before rinsing away.
