Review: October Love Lula Natural Beauty Box

Welcome to my review of the Love Lula Natural Beauty Box for October. This month’s natural beauty box contains products from Emani, Moi Vert, Laidbare, Balm Balm and a sample from Antipodes. Together they are valued at £55. As it costs a regular subscriber £14.95, including postage, I think it’s great value.

You also get a code for 25% off the brands featured in the box. You can use this until the 10th of the following month. So which were my favourite products in the October Love Lula Natural Beauty Box? Read on to find out.

Balm Balm Little Miracle Rosehip Serum Review

I love facial serums and this rosehip serum from Balm Balm is lovely. It’s a blend of rosehip, jojoba and borage oils, infused with frankincense, rose geranium, palmarosa, juniper and madarin essential oils, so it smells gorgeous.

Balm Balm say it “moisturises, rejuvenates and refines skin… allowing it to breathe, even out texture and feel totally rejuvenated. Made from luxuriously fine carrier oils, so similar to our own skin’s make up that they are miraculously absorbed leaving no oiliness whatsoever.”

It certainly absorbs beautifully, however it does leave a slight oily film which soon disappears. I’ve used a tiny touch in the morning beneath my day cream and a more generous amount before my night cream.

Moi Vert Natural Deodorant Review

I’ve used natural deodorants for years now and love that they are so much better for my skin and the planet. Some work brilliantly and others aren’t at all effective for me, even though some people rave about them. But this natural deodorant fell somewhere in the middle for me.

Moi Vert Unscented Natural Deodorant being scooped out of the jar.

It is shea butter based and Vegan, and i have the unscented version. But it does smell quite strongly of shea butter, and that’s not one of my favourite smells to be honest. It does come in several other scents, so I would like to give one of them a try to see if it masks the shea butter scent.

So does it work? Yes, to a point. I find I notice a smell in the evening but it does last through the day pretty well. However I haven’t done any exercise while wearing it, and suspect it might not stand up to proper sweat.

Emani Hydrating Lip Colour Review

Swatch of Emani Hydrating Lip Colour in Ava

I’ve been impressed by other Emani products in the past, including their powder foundation. So I had high hopes for this lip colour. I was allocated the shade Ava, which looks like a nice nude pink on the product listing, but is more of a dull brownish, almost brick orange colour on me unfortunately.

The shade does nothing for me, and although it does come in other nicer (in my opinion) shades, I won’t be trying them, as unfortunately I found it quite drying, surprisingly given the name! It does stay put pretty well but it also has a strange smell, a bit like my mum’s make-up had in the 80s, if that gives you an idea. So this one is a no from me.

As a side note, I am also wearing the Inika loose powder from last month’s beauty box, and the Inika primer from the month before.

Laidbare Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow Review

I have used this hair minimising body lotion before, and although I did find it fairly effective, it is really runny! I’ll be giving mine to a friend as I couldn’t be bothered with the faff of it, especially now my leg har is so much finer after using a home laser device.

Antipodes Baptise H20 Ultra-Hydrating Water Gel Review

Antipodes Baptise H20 Ultra-Hydrating Water Gel Sample

We also received a sample sachet of Antipodes Baptise H20 Ultra-Hydrating Water Gel. This cool, lightly scented gel is a joy to use and I’d like to see how it goes long term now I’ve used up the sachet.

I love Antipodes products and especially love their eye creams and their lipstick is my favourite.

I reviewed a lot of Laidbare’s naturally inspired skincare collection here, and there are a few standout affordable products, including their eye cream and cleanser.
