Finding the perfect foundation and powder is incredibly difficult. Finding one that works brilliantly, and is also natural, makes that even more of a challenge! I’ve been using RMS Beauty UnCoverup and Tinted UnPowder for about six months now. So are they the perfect combo? Read on to find out if they live up to their cult status.
I said I’ve been using them on and off, which gives a clue to my verdict. The UnCoverup is as excellent concealer, but I’m not so keen on the powder.
So let’s talk about the concealer first.
RMS Beauty UnCoverup
I reach for the RMS Beauty UnCoverup most days as a concealer, as I love the colour and texture. It gives a pretty good coverage, but I do find I need to add another concealer on top to disguise my undereye circles – you can see how I cover my shadows on this post.
You can use this multi-purpose product as a foundation, but for me it is a bit too much of a faff. It takes too long to build up perfect coverage so unless you already have a pretty even complexion it might just take too long. This is a vlog I recorded back in the summer, which shows you how I apply it. I like to apply it with a damp beauty blender all over my face for a light coverage.
I then use the tip of my finger to pat and blend it into my skin around my eyes, nose and chin, wherever I need more coverage. I use a fine brush to cover blemishes, and set it with powder. I do get a good finish but it’s not the quickest!
RMS UnCoverup is a cult product in natural beauty circles. It is highly pigmented with mineral pigments to give a really natural finish, with no horrible chemicals. I do think the reputation is deserved.
You can buy RMS UnCoverup here for £39. That does sound expensive but this pot has lasted me over six months and there is still plenty left. You only need a tiny amount, so I think it’s good value. It’s available in seven shades, and I’m wearing the third from lightest, so this is great for me as normally I have to use the palest shade in most foundations. It has neutral undertones so it doesn’t make me look orange, or pink. It’s quite a heavy, almost oil formula so I think it might be too rich for very oily skin. That said, my skin is on the oiler side and it doesn’t cause break outs.

RMS Beauty Tinted UnPowder
I have persevered with RMS Beauty UnPowder, but I am just not all that keen on it. I find it a little grainy in texture, but at the same time, it’s easy to inhale by accident, so must be quite fine. I find it best to apply it with the powder puff, as using a brush drags the UnCoverup around, rather than setting it. Press it on to your skin, rather than dusting it over. The unusual thing about this powder is that it actually looks better an hour or two after applying it. Initially it looks kind of chalky, but as your skin warms it up it looks much more natural.

RMS Beauty UnCoverup and Tinted UnPowder Together
In the first picture you can see me wearing just the UnCover up – you can see it’s very shiny but covers well. I had some spots the day I took them and it covered them well when I applied it with a little brush. I used a damp beauty sponge to apply on the larger areas and a second layer with a buffing brush around my eyes, nose and chin.
The next picture shows how it looks with the Tinted UnPowder over the top – see how chalky it looks?
Picture three shows it ten minutes later when I have applied the rest of my make-up, and you can see how it’s ‘melted’ into my skin nicely.
The final picture shows it after six hours, with no touch ups. As you can see, the coverage is still good, and there is minimal shine break though.
So for me, the RMS Beauty UnCoverup is justifiably a cult product. I find it works best over a CC Cream and you can check out my favourite one on this blog post. This gives an even tone and slight coverage, so you can just use the ‘Un’ Cover-up for blemishes and redness. You can also top it off with a loose powder mineral foundation. The ‘Un’ Powder, however, is not perfect for me, so I will be trying something else when it runs out. I will use it up though as it’s pretty good, and I don’t like waste.
